Do you want to go along as a chaperone on your child's upcoming field trip?
Have plans to help with DES Field Day?

and have had a SLED background check.
DES is offering two more chances for you to become a trained volunteer for our school.
Tuesday March 23rd and Thursday May 6th at 8:30 AM in the DES cafeteria.
Field Day is June 4th. There will not be a last minute training for field day. If this is your day to volunteer, then plan to attend training on one of these two dates. If you attended training in past years, stop by the office to update your volunteer application.

Special Notice to Childcare Parents - There will not be a specific training for summer chaperones. You must have had the same training and SLED check for Summer Childcare field trips as for school field trips. Please plan to attend one of the scheduled trainings listed above.

Students Are Having a "Ball" at DES
Health Benefits and Improved Concentration for Students
Dacusville Elementary is on the cutting edge of recent research findings, using stability balls for “active sitting” in five classrooms. For many years, Occupational and Physical Therapists have used stability balls to address strength, balance, and sensory integration.  Therapists often recommend the use of balls in the classroom for students diagnosed with Sensory Integration Disorders, ADHD, and to improve core strength and posture.

Teachers using stability balls at Dacusville Elementary report an increase in their students’ ability to focus for longer periods and improved concentration. To read the rest of the article click here or look for it in the local papers.
